GENDER EQUALITY IN ISLAM

Islam is a religion of peace.

Islam provides women a position of honor and respect, with clearly stated rights and obligations

The Quran affords legal protections in the areas of marriage, divorce, and inheritance that are considered to mark a vast improvement over the situation of women in pre-Islamic society.

The Quran cites men as the protectors of women, the righteousness of the latter defined in terms of obedience to males

Islam does support equality, where both men and women have the right to voice out their opinion and to stand with their own principles as long as it did not contradict the teaching of Islam.

In Islam women are freed from many of the problems and concerns that are assumed by men, a situation which they often feel is not easy to be given up.

Men can have skincare too! Part 1

Nowadays, people have a stigma on men who have skincare.

I want to ask all of us to support the break down the stigma as men also a human being who can be exposed to sunlight and air pollution. Without skincare, men are at risk of having a skin problem which might lead to a self-esteem problem.

This video share on how a man felt before and after having a skincare.

From the video, he said that:

"LOOK MY BEST, FEEL MY BEST"

I agree with him as happiness is one of the important element in our daily life.

Self-Care Important for Man too!

This is an article from International Self-Care Foundation (ISF).

https://isfglobal.org/self-care-and-gender/

This article corrected my misconception on what "self-care" actually is. "Self-care" is actually describe as a person-centered way of maintaining our health, wellness, and wellbeing. There are 7 pillars of self-care which are:

1. Knowledge and Health Literacy
2. Mental Wellbeing
3. Physical Activity
4. Healthy Eating
5. Risk Avoidance
6. Good Hygiene
7. Rational Use of Product and Services

"Self-care is equally important for MEN and WOMEN."

In the self-care field, men's health are generally overlooked. Average life expectancy at birth for male is 70 while for female is 75 and the the 'sex-gap' keep on widening. Improved men's self-care practices  would result in better health for men. Yet, there are barriers which halt men from improving Their self-care — male gender norm, lack on policy focus on men, and health services that have been designed without men in mind.

"Men with good skin are soft"

"Men who is hygienic aren't real men"

-STOP THIS STEOROTYPE-

Tough guy can have good skin too.

Tough guy can have skincare routine too.

Men can diet too.

Men are hygienic too.

Men eat supplement for maintaining health too.

House Chores, Men or Women?

Who is responsible for the house chores?

Men are likely to accept the concept of gender equality than ever but conservative ideals prevail when it comes to the home front.

In recent years, several research and have recorded the shifting perceptions of men towards women: there is almost universal encouragement for women to seek employment and political office, and attitudes about gender identity have been even more welcoming.

Mostly, our community will have this perception: Dad works full time (for pay) and Mom stays home (for free), and that's why most of the men thinks the house chores is all for the women because they have been working for all day long while the unemployed women just stay home doing nothing.

In marriage or among our siblings, everyone is responsible to do the house chores regardless gender. It doesn't matter what type of house chores; cooking, empty the trash bin, or wash the car, we should do together in order to create a happy family. Other than that, we should be tolerate to our spouse or family members to do house chores for their part if they looked tired or do not manage to do it because of work or homework especially during this online platform.

That's all from me for today :)
So much love, Syakirah.

TOUGH GUY'S ARE SENSITIVE TOO

This is an article from the Irish Times, published on September 10, 2019.

"Fears for tears: why do we tell boys not to cry?"

 https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/health-family/parenting/fears-for-tears-why-do-we-tell-boys-not-to-cry-1.4006399

The article does grab my attention and makes me wonder, why society has the perception that boys cannot cry?

If a boy falls to the ground and begin to cry, his mother will say to him "Clean yourself, don't cry, and be a man"

A man loses his loved ones, but he is too shame to let his tears fell in front of the public. Why? Because he wants to keep his image of masculinity.

If a groom cries when he saw the bride walk down the aisle, people say he is over-dramatic, but actually, he is being grateful and is showing his love towards his bride.

"Be a MAN"

"Big boys DON'T CRY"

"Boys shouldn't cry, you're not a cry baby"

STOP TORTURING MAN WITH THIS CRUEL PERCEPTIONS,

Man does have feelings,

Man does have the rights to cry,

Man does have the rights to express his feelings,

Man is also a NORMAL HUMAN-BEING.

Most of the people who are having depression are men. Do you want your brother, husband,
male best friend to have depression just because "Man Can't Cry"?

  3. Be a man.
  4. The real man finishes last.
